Kisses

Let me start by giving some background information.

Makena gives and receives lots of kisses. Mark has started this game where he pretends to fall asleep and the only way to wake him up is for Makena to give him a kiss. In addition, Makena has taken to wiping off the kisses she receives so she can get more kisses and possibly some tickles.

Wake Up Kiss

Mark was on the sofa watching TV with Makena. He had a really tough week and ended up falling asleep. It's not too hard to guess what happened next. Makena climbed up on the sofa and gave Mark a really sweet little kiss and asked him to wake up and play with her. If you're going to be woken up from a nap, that's the way it should be done! :)

Wake Up Kiss.. From a Distance

Mark was rocking Kessler and Makena was playing. Mark closed his eyes to relax (still reeling from the tough week). Makena tries to convince Mark to come find her; she's hiding behind the bean bag. Mark doesn't immediately respond. You see the predicament she has on her hands now. If she gives Daddy a kiss to wake him up she'll spoil her hiding place. So, she starts blowing kisses at him then she ducks behind the bean bag.

Your Kiss Came Off

Our night time ritual has become a bit of a battle recently. Makena looks for any possible way to stall. Last night after Mark tucked her in and came to bed, she started crying. He went back to check on her. With tears streaming down her cheeks she says, "Your kiss came off Daddy... all by itself. It came off all by itself. I need anuber one."

Wait.. wait.. wait..

To my dismay, the day is not over yet. (It might help if you read posts from earlier today first.)

Mark, the kids, and I decided to go drown our woes in some pizza and wine. Everything was going really well, until we were leaving the restaurant. Mark headed out with the kids while I packed up the diaper bag. I had the diaper bag in my right hand and a milk box and a bottle in my left. As I was leaving I inadvertantly cut off a guy, carrying a large pizza, who was heading for the door as well. So, I politely scurried to get the door open so that I could hold it for him. Well, in my haste to be chivalrous, as I had my left hand just below eye level holding the door, I squeezed the milk box... Yep, you guessed it.

The guy behind me kept saying. "I saw it as it happened! I saw it as it happened!" Yeah, yeah, okay, enough already. I have a weapon, and I obviously know how to use it, sort of.

So, I've taken up a new cause. Please help me in my fight to ban juice/milk boxes by signing one of the petitions below. Mark and I are in disagreement over possible extenuating circumstances.

Thank you for your support.

Shall I write a book?

I think I shall. It will be called "How to Maintain an Orderly House." I'm an expert as evidenced by how smoothly things went in my home today.

After relocating the A+D ointment (see previous post), I went downstairs to find this:

Femme, would you like to trade dogs? I mean, really, who needs a dog that will fetch the paper when you have one that will sort your garbage?

Just in case you're wondering..

...what it looks like when you put A+D Original Ointment--Diaper Rash Ointment and Skin Protectant (aka "Poopy Cream") in your hair.. now you know:

A little more greasy than conditioner and it doesn't smell as nice.

How does the saying go? Put conditioner/poopy cream in your hair once, shame on you. Put conditioner/poopy cream in your hair twice, shame on mommy?

BTW, this happened while I was desperately trying to figure out how to get my videos to load properly.

Does anyone

have any idea why my videos won't post properly??

The Tongue Game..

I'm getting backlogged with my videos, so I better get some out here.

My husband reads the Baby Center updates more than most men read the sports page. So, he knows that a developmental milestone is for a baby to mimic someone sticking their tongue out as demonstrated below:

Mommy, I want to take a bap.

When you hear those words... stop what you're doing and give her a bath. Otherwise, she might take matters into her own hands.. hair and bean bag.

Makena eating lunch..

I have been trying to post some videos for several days but blogger keeps choking on them. I'm desperately trying to get the last post to disappear into cyberspace archives. Anyway, I was just looking through some old emails and came across this photo of Mark, Makena and Flipper. It ranks really high on the list of all time favorite photos so I figured I'd share it even though it's old. It's unbelievable how much she reminds me of Kessler. It would be just like him to try to eat a dolphin's snout!

I want my money back!!!!

For my family in Australia who might wonder if I have lost my mind by putting these photos here.. Glamour Shots is a place where a lot of us silly American girls went to get done up with gaudy make-up and clothing. We then would have our photo taken so we could forever be reminded of our poor judgement. Some others have decided it would be a good idea to share those photos. I am succumbing to peer pressure.

Though I am not proud of these, I am lucky to report that mine are quite tame in comparison to my fellow bloggers, Femme and Melek.

I do feel cheated that they didn't use a half a bottle of hair spray on me or even break out the curling iron. The probable cause behind this, another thing I'm not proud of, is mine were taken in 2001. Yep, only 7 years ago. I nearly died when I saw the date on the photo. This would be Femme's fault. She had the foresight to realize that providing a gift certificate to Glamour Shots would lead to a lot of laughs down the road.

Making Progress..

Kessie's head was measured today for the first time since he was sized for his helmet back on Feb 7. He's had his helmet for 13 days. Here's a diagram which shows his progress! The orthotist said it's perfect for this stage.

The red is where he was on Feb 7. The blue is as of today!
